There are several power towers under the ZENOVA brand name at the moment. In this post, we’re going to address the ZENOVA Heavy-Duty power tower, the sturdiest and most versatile model. Like most other power towers, this particular model offers high grips for pull-ups and the dip / leg-raise station. However, it also includes a set of bar catchers so you can use a barbell for squats and other exercises.

Frame construction and parts
The ZENOVA Heavy-Duty power tower features a sturdy construction with a weight capacity of 550 lbs which is pretty impressive for a home-use unit. Its frame is made of durable, rectangular steel tubing with the exception of some of the bars in the chinning station which are cylindrical.
This ZENOVA power tower is not an extremely large home gym system. Its footprint is only 41″L x 40.5″W (104 x 103 cm). However, it still is recommended to leave at least two feet of clearance all around it for ease of access. Also, the unit is approx. 82″ (208 cm) tall, so it should fit in a room with a 7′ (213 cm) ceiling. It is recommended, though, to place and use this tower in a room with a higher ceiling to have plenty of clearance above it for the correct execution of pull-up exercises.
The unit’s base features a U-shape design. All the base bars have ABS caps with flattened pads to provide better stability for the unit. There are no pre-drilled holes in the base bars for anchoring the unit to the floor. However, the tower offers excellent stability on its own; anchoring it shouldn’t be necessary.
The two main upright bars of the unit feature 11 adjustment positions for the leg-raise arms. They are slightly inclined backward to provide better positioning for pull-up exercises. They are also supported by two lower upright bars which considerably enhance the unit’s overall sturdiness. In case you’re wondering, the distance between the two upright bars is approx. 21.6″ (55 cm); this being said, the unit offers plenty of inner space for users of various sizes.
The included leg-raise bars, as well as the backrest of the unit, integrate a 2-inch (5 cm) layer of foam cushioning. Their upholstery is made of durable, sweatproof vinyl material. Also, the backrest if pretty wide, approx. 15.2″ x 8.8″ (38.6 x 22.3 cm), offering plenty of contact surface.
As we’ve mentioned above, this power tower includes two bar catcher elements which can be attached to the main upright bars in the same way as the leg-raise bars. These give you the possibility to work with a barbell to perform squats; or, if you add a bench, you can perform chest press exercises. It’s important to mention, though, that the ZENOVA power tower does not offer the full safety of a power cage. It doesn’t have safety bars, and due to the fact that the two upright bars are pretty close together, you cannot use the two leg-raise elements as your safety bars. Therefore, in case you will be performing barbell presses or squats, it is recommended to work with the help of a spotter.
Another important aspect to mention here is that each one of the leg-raise arms or the bar catchers have four attachment points to the upright bars (for other units they have only two). This considerably improves their lock-in, an aspect which is also reflected into the tower’s overall sturdiness.
The ZENOVA Heavy-Duty Power Tower features two main workout stations. These are the pull-up station and the leg-raise / dip station.
Pull-up station. To begin with, the tower’s pull-up station is equipped with two sets of grips: wide grips and parallel grips. The bar with the wide grips is approx. 38.2″ (97 cm) long; the grips are slightly curved down to provide a better hand positioning. The parallel grips are placed at a distance of approx. 17″ (43 cm) offering plenty of space in the middle for pull-ups. Also, due to its construction, the pull-up station offers the possibility to perform close grip pull-ups and close grip parallel pull-ups.
The pull-up station offers sufficient sturdiness to support loads up to 550 lbs (250 kg). This being said, you should be able to perform weighted pull-up exercises with no problem.
Dip / leg-raise station. This workout station consists of two heavy-duty arms which can be attached to the main upright bars in 11 positions. Both leg-raise arms are cushioned, and there is a backrest cushion as well. In case you’re wondering, the length of each leg-raise arm is 23″ (58.4 cm), including the length of the dip grips. Also, as a general idea, the length of each grip of the tower is approx. 6″ (15 cm).
The ZENOVA Heavy-Duty Power Tower offers the possibility to perform more than 25 exercises. Among them, we can count:
- Wide grip pull-ups
- Muscle pull-ups
- Behind head pull-ups
- Around the world pull-ups
- One arm pull-ups
- Parallel grip pull-ups
- Close grip pull-ups
- Weighted pull-ups
- Inclined pull-ups
- Parallel grip chin-ups
- Wide grip chin-ups
- Close grip chin-ups
- One hand chin-ups
- Weighted chin-ups
- Weighted dips
- Dip to leg raise
- Side-to-side dips
- Gironda dips
- Reverse Gironda dips
- Hanging knee raises
- Hanging leg raises
- Chest presses
- … and more.
Of course, in order to perform weighted squats, you will need a barbell and weight discs which are not included. For chest presses, a bench is required. Also, despite the fact that the tower comes with catch bars for the barbell, it doesn’t have safety bars like a power cage. So, as we’ve mentioned above, it is recommended to perform squats or presses with the help of a spotter, or at least use loads that you can handle safely.
Assembly and Maintenance
Just like any other home gym system, the ZENOVA Heavy-Duty Power Tower requires full assembly. However, since it’s a power tower and not a pulley machine, its assembly is far from being complicated. The included brochure provides clear step-by-step instructions so the task shouldn’t take more than one hour of your time. Tools for assembly are not included, though.
Once the unit is assembled, its maintenance doesn’t require much. Basically, all you have to do is periodically check for loose bolts or damaged parts in order to re-tighten them or replace them before any accidents can happen.
